Candice Johnson: Colorful Interior fun

Candice Johnson from @picsfromcandice knows how to spread good vibes through interior design. The colorful details in her Instagram feed make her design fun to look at. That's why we had to interview her for this blog!

The colour pink is her trademark - and since she is a hairstylist, the colour is not only reflected in her décor, but also in her hair color. Candice answered a few questions here, especially how she manages to create such a cheerful mood with her interior design.

Dear Candice, there is literally SO much joy in just looking at your feed. How do you choose these amazing colors for your apartment?

“That’s so kind, thank you! Feeling joy at home is super important to me, especially after these two crazy years. I am a hair colourist and have always been drawn to colour. I often find my self buying things not for the product but for the colour. Pastels make me feel happy and relaxed so I always think the more the merrier.“

What would you recommend if someone wants to make their apartment or house “more fun”?

“I think there are really easy ways to make a home more fun. Firstly I would say cushions. I love cushions! I honestly think I have well over 60 cushions around the house. It’s a really affordable way to change a space and breathe some life into a space. Second is paint. It doesn’t always have to be a big job, sometimes a feature wall or a little pop is all you need to add a bit of fun. Thirdly is art. I have some pieces I have invested in, but I tend to get prints so I can easily change them without breaking the bank. They add colour, character and definitely a bit of fun to a space.“

What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts for interior inspiration?

“There are too many to list! I take so much inspiration from all the beautiful homes on social media. A few favourites are:

They all embrace colour in the most fabulous ways.“

Any creative projects that you’d like to try in the future?

“My next creative project will be my downstairs courtyard, I have done very little with it and it’s screaming for a makeover. Stay tuned!“

What’s an interior no-go that people should avoid?

“I personally don’t think there is anything you should avoid if you love it. If things are balanced and the colours work well together I say go for it. That’s the best part about decor, if it doesn’t work then change it, no big deal. I say have some fun and do what makes you happy.“

Thank you very much, candice!
